When emotion takes place, action will soon follow. Whether that action is someone simply bookmarking your webpage, telling a friend about it or indeed pulling out their credit card.

Any way you look at it, content is the driving force behind this all important action.

2. SEO demystified

There are a million books on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) yet the simple, proven truth about getting found in the search engines for relevant terms is all about having popular content. That is to say, the search engines rank your site as if it were running in a popularity contest. The more people that link to you (votes) then the higher you’ll be found for keywords on your page.

The fact is, a poorly optimized web page can rank the highest for a certain term or theme, if enough people link back to it. But how do you get people to link back to it? Well, you create content that makes people want to link back to it. It really is that simple.

Not sure how to create link worthy content? Simply go look at what your competitors are doing on their sites to get all their back links. Go check out digg.com and see what related stories in your market are getting the most attention. Then you’ll have a great idea of what people are hungry to read (and of course, link back to).

The other benefit of adding more quality content to your website is that it gives the search engines more opportunities to pick up your pages and start ranking them. Let’s face it, the more nets you have out there, the more fish you’ll catch…or in this case, I should say spiders.

Once you’ve added some solid content to your site, or even if you’ve already got some worthwhile material published, you will feel yourself literally compelled to go out and tell the world.

But this is where it gets tricky, as traffic generation outside of creating good content is a very tough beast to tame.

Get More Free Traffic To Your Website

We’re reaching a point where website visitors are more precious than ever, and subsequently harder to obtain.

Therefore, it is paramount that we, as affiliate marketers are able to convert as many of these visitors into buyers.

After all, by converting more people we don’t have to spend so much time on hunting down more traffic to our sites and can increase our affiliate checks without overloading our bandwidth.

So the question is, what can you do today to increase affiliate commissions from the same amount of website visitors? Luckily, there are quite a few things you can do to increase the chances of a sale and improve your conversions, so let’s take a look…

1. Place your main offer in the top fold of the page

According to numerous tests, having the offer jammed right in the visitor’s face, such as in the header of the page, will increase the chances of a click, and a subsequent sale. Don’t worry about being obnoxious, people should still be able to easily access your content, but will repeatedly see the main offer first on every relevant page (preferably all pages of the same site).

2. Add more affiliate links with persuasive anchor text

It makes sense that the more times you ask for the sale (or just the click) then the more chances it will actually happen. The old adage of “If you don’t ask then you don’t get” always springs to mind here. Again, don’t flood a page with links but add links inside the content and not just at the bottom of your pages or on the navigation bars. Furthermore, refrain from using links that just describe the product name or show the domain of the affiliated site. It’s far better to use anchor text such as “Get relief from your back pain today” than a simple link such as www.amazingwebsiteaboutbackpainrelief.us.uk

3. Create painful, focused content

It is far better to use content that ties in directly with the visitor’s pain and predominant problems. Therefore, the reader will feel more inclined to take action after being presold with your content. For example, you could write an article about the different types of back pain and a few ways to temporarily relieve it, but then provide plenty of affiliate links to the only real solution.

These are just some of the ways you can increase website conversions for affiliate offers, but I admit that they take time and effort to craft and test.

Creating content that presell’s people is a great affiliate marketing model, but by no means the easiest way to make large commissions from affiliate marketing.

Did you know that some of the biggest affiliate marketers online today don’t even need to create content to make affiliate sales? Furthermore, these same marketers are getting several thousand hits to their websites each week purely off the back of other people’s hard work…and most of these marketers don’t even own a domain name!
